About Surge
The Fitbit Surge is a fitness oriented smartwatch is able to display notifications and track activity and sleep. This wearable device differentiates itself from previous Fitbit products by adding a optical heart rate monitor and GPS. This adds an additional metric to increase the accuracy of its sleep and activity tracking features. The Surge is water resistant up to 5 ATM, so the user may use the device in the shower or during swimming. Using Bluetooth 4.0, the Fitbit Charge HR can automatically synchronize with compatible phones, tablets, and computers. Heart rate is measured once every second during exercise and every five seconds at all other times. The GPS is sampled every second.
